Local Florida and Oklahoma fans will have to travel a few hours but they can watch their teams in 3-D during the FedEx BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 8 in Miami.
FOX Sports along with Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp., Sony and 3ality Digital announced Tuesday that the game will become the first major sporting event available to the public in 3-D.
The national title game can be viewed at the Rave Pensacola 18 (97 miles from Panama City), Carmike-Wynnsong 16 in Mobile, Ala. (156.55 miles), Carmike 15 in Columbus, Ga. (166.77 miles) and Rave Patton Creek 15 in Hoover, Ala. (228.04 miles).
The game will be shot using 3ality Digital’s image-capture technology and transmitted live via Cinedigm’s CineLive satellite distribution network from Miami to 80 theaters in 35 states, according to the release.
Tickets for the showings are expected to range from $18-$22, the release stated.
