Suspended Chipola players to return

February 3rd, 2009, 6:07 pm · 1 Comment · posted by Josh Weinfuss

The four Chipola Lady Indians who did not play in Saturday’s 66-62 loss to Northwest Florida State College will return for tonight’s game against Pensacola, coach David Lane said.

Latoya Williams, Ashlie Billingslea, Sequoyah Griffin and Georgian Williams were suspended for violating team rules, Lane said. Latoya Williams and Billingslea were Chipola’s two leading scorers.

The quartet had a good practice Monday and are expected to be reinstated, Lane said.

“We could have used them,” he said. “We still had plenty of opportunities to win the game. I don’t know if we’ll ever see eye to eye on it.”

I KNOW OF THE INCIDENT WITH THE YOUNG LADIES AND I THINK THAT IT WAS WRONG ON COACH LANE’S PART TO SUSPEND THOSE GIRLS. CONSIDERING THE HARD WORK THEY PUT IN AND HAD BEEN RECENTLY RANKED NO.1 IN THE PANHANDLE, THOSE GIRLS DIDN’T DESERVE THAT HARSH OF A PUNIISHMENT!
