Isn’t football like porn to some fans?

February 2nd, 2009, 4:03 pm by Josh Weinfuss

This just came across the Associated Press’ wire. Thought I’d pass on to you what residents of Tucson saw TV just after Larry Fitzgerald a touchdown pass late in the game.

“A cable television provider has apologized to Tucson-area customers over a 30-second porn interruption during the Super Bowl.

Philadelphia-based Comcast issued a brief statement Monday saying the company is “mortified” and is conducting a thorough investigation.

Comcast spokeswoman Jennifer Khoury says the initial investigation suggests that the interruption was an “isolated, malicious act.”

The company says only customers in the Tucson area receiving the standard definition feed — not high definition — were affected.

Tucson media outlets reported that they received calls from irate viewers about the porn, which aired just after the Arizona Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald scored on a long touchdown reception during the game’s final minutes.”

Derrick Harvey, the 2007 BCS National Championship Game defensive MVP, reached an agreement today with the Jacksonville Jaguards for a five-year, $23.8 million contract, ending a 33-day holdout.

Harvey was the eighth selection in April’s NFL Draft and was the last first-round draft pick to sign a contract.

Harvey joins former Gator Reggie Nelson on Jacksonville’s defense.

Zeke Bratkowski knew Max McGee better than most people.

They were teammates on the Green Bay Packers from 1963 to 1967 and won three world championships, including the first two Super Bowls.

They also were Air Force pilots together in the same squadron.

McGee died Oct. 20 after falling from his roof in Deephaven, Minn., a suburb west of Minneapolis.

Broadway Joe to graduate from Alabama

Former Crimson Tide quarterback Joe Namath is scheduled to receive his college degree from Alabama on Saturday, 43 years after his final game in Tuscaloosa.

Namath, famously known for guaranteeing a New York Jets win in Super Bowl III and following through on the promise against the Baltimore Colts, will be one of more than 900 graduates participating in commencement ceremonies at Coleman Coliseum on the Alabama campus.

During the last five years, Namath has worked to complete his bachelor’s degree through Alabama’s External Degree program, better known as EXD. The EXD is an interdisciplinary program that allows adults to complete the requirements for a bachelor’s degree.

More than 1,500 students have graduated through the program, which was founded in 1973.

After leaving Alabama, Namath was selected by both the NFL and AFL, before the two merged, in 1964.
