Mr. Two-bits to be honored Saturday
October 21st, 2008, 3:50 pm by Josh Weinfuss
Florida will say goodbye to a legend after this season.
No, not Tim Tebow.
Mr. Two-bits, George Edmondson, will call it quits after leading the now-famous cheer for 60 years. Once a staple at high school football games, the two-bits cheer is now pretty much a Florida Gators staple.
The cheer goes:
“Two bits, four bits, six bits a dollar, all for the Gators, stand up and holler.”
The University of Florida will honor Edmondson, 84, before Saturday’s game against Kentucky. Kick off is at 11:30 a.m. CDT, but fans are asked to be in their seats by 11:10 a.m. for the pregame tribute.
